Viejitos freak out: “A Red Super Mariel”

January 16th, 2013 | Posted by Alex in Hard-line hijinks

In what’s possibly the most deranged reaction to the Cuban migratory reforms, a hodgepodge coalition of 12 geriatric exile groups with a long record of accomplishing absolutely nothing, are asking  for “the help of the American people” (weirdly, in Spanish) in order to avoid an upcoming “unaffordable and disturbing political, social and economic avalanche” of “communist-filtered agents” and “silent regime supporters”, which would constitute a “Red Super Mariel”. Sounds ominous enough? They also threaten to take their walkers to Washington to demand the end of the same migratory privileges many of them enjoyed when they came. Hay que reírse.
