Election-time manipulation of exile suffering, Exhibit A

November 1st, 2012 | Posted by William Vidal in Hard-line hijinks

Yesterday, Congresswoman – and grown-up Honey Boo Boo lookalike – Ileana Ros-Lehtinen half-heartedly endorsed embattled Congressman David Rivera through, not an op-ed or campaign appearance, but an email to El Nuevo Herald.  It was clearly a tough move for her.  All she could muster to describe the guy was that he’s “hard-working and intelligent” (not unlike a rat).  Then she reveals why this endorsement came in the form of an email to El Nuevo and not the Miami Herald – to once-again manipulate the suffering of exiles in Miami and get out el viejito vote:

“He has repeatedly and consistently advanced issues to help to people in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaraguabe truly free, and I share his views on dictatorships,” said Ros-Lehtinen. “To deprive the Castro regime of dollars has always been in his legislative agenda.

Just a quick reminded to our readers that Ileana and David’s policies have done nothing to help Cubans in the island become truly free.  She’s been pushing the hardline since her election in ’88, as he has since serving as a Florida state legislator, and about the only impact they’ve had in Cuba has been to get dissidents branded as U.S. mercenaries and ensure that the old guys in charge stay in office.  Keep up the crap work, you two.
